How to play
The numbers say how many squares are filled in a row, and in what
order. Work them out and a picture appears.
- A clue of 4 2 means a block of four filled squares, then at
least one gap, then a block of two — in that order, somewhere along the
line.
- Use Mark empty for squares you have ruled out. Those crosses
are what let you pin the blocks down, so use them freely.
- Tap a square again to clear it. Drag to paint a run — the
drag locks to a single row or column so it stays neat. On a desktop,
right-click marks empty without switching modes.
- A clue fades once its line is finished and correct. Heavier grid lines every
five squares help you count.
- Every puzzle can be reasoned out line by line — you never need to guess.
Where to start
- Look for clues that nearly fill their line. In a row of 10, a clue of
8 must cover the middle six squares whichever end it starts
from.
- The same overlap trick works with several blocks: add the runs plus one gap
between each, and anything left over is your wiggle room.
- A clue of 0 means the whole line is empty. Cross it all out.
- Once a block is complete, cross the squares at both ends — they cannot be
part of it.
- Stuck? Hint finds the next square logic settles, and names
the row or column that proves it.
